Join World Resources Institute (WRI)’s US Polsky Energy Center for a one-hour webinar that explores how local governments are expanding access to community-wide clean energy. This session will provide an overview of CCA and utility-enabled community clean energy procurement programs, including how they work, what opportunities they create for communities, and how state policies and Public Utility Commissions (PUCs) shape their implementation. WRI will also explore regional differences in these approaches, including why CCA programs have emerged in some parts of the country while utility-enabled models are gaining traction in others. Participants will hear directly from Glade Sowards of Salt Lake City about the Utah Renewable Communities Program and Robert McCracken of Cincinnati about Ohio’s Community Choice Aggregation programs, including lessons learned and opportunities for local government engagement.

Hear from several experts presenting the policy, financial, and industrial outlook for deploying lower-pollution cement projects to fuel the development of rapidly growing countries across Africa and Asia. Presenters discuss technology, policy, financing, and other challenges and opportunities for deploying decarbonized cement projects in emerging markets and developing economies.

WRI and partners provide a practical overview of clean energy procurement pathways, including green tariffs, power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other utility-led programs. Attendees will also learn how evolving market conditions, such as the phaseout of federal clean energy tax credits and increasing load forecasts, are influencing procurement strategies and affecting progress toward municipal clean energy goals.

Across the U.S., data centers are driving rapid new power demand for the first time in decades, with real consequences for costs, reliability, and emissions. Join the WRI U.S. Polsky Energy Center for a discussion with developers, utilities, and technology providers about the practical approaches and technologies that can quickly and affordably get more clean energy into the grid to meet this rising demand.

Join the WRI Polsky Center for the Global Energy Transition for a global panel exploring the key opportunities for second-life batteries, the barriers to scaling their use and the actions needed to build a cohesive and responsible market.

A webinar designed for local government staff and practitioners that will give a foundational overview of the IRP process – what gets decided, who the key stakeholders are, and how local governments can engage to advance local goals. Participants heard directly from two local governments that have engaged in IRP proceedings about their experiences, including deciding on the pathway and strategy for engagement, lessons learned, and best practices.

This webinar explored emerging solutions and WRI’s latest research on practical, transparent, and community‑centered siting policies. Participants heard from experts working directly with local governments and community partners to expand local capacity, reduce barriers, and ensure renewable energy development reflects community needs and values.
