Africa
WRI’s work in Africa is guided by a region-wide strategy led by a vice president and regional director based in Nairobi, Kenya. We maintain a regional hub office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and offices in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Madagascar.
International Offices
Rwanda
WRI aims to catalyze inclusive and sustainable development in Rwanda through its work in food, land, cities and energy.
Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
In West and Central Africa we foster vital landscapes in Cameroon, Republic of Congo, and DRC, where we have maintained an office since 2006.
Ethiopia
The WRI Ethiopia office in Addis Ababa has two roles. It serves as the regional hub for WRI Africa and it actively engages with the government and other stakeholders to advance sustainable development within Ethiopia itself.
Kenya
Nairobi, Kenya, is the second hub for WRI in Africa. Kenya is one of the most important countries in the region; it is home to major UN and multilateral organizations and central to regional transportation, media and communications.
WRI Africa
Our vision for Africa is an inclusive transformation so Africa’s people and landscapes flourish. WRI Africa generates actionable knowledge across four strategic pillars: vital landscapes; thriving and resilient cities; clean energy; and climate, economics and finance.
