Visualizing Climate Equity: The CAIT Equity Explorer

Synopsis
The Climate Access Indicators Tool (CAIT) Equity Explorer (WRI 2014), part of WRI’s CAIT Climate Data Explorer suite, is an online visualization tool that aims to inform the UNFCCC international climate negotiations by providing a unique approach to climate equity. This technical note discusses indicators that are included in the Equity Explorer. Reflecting the diversity of views and proposed metrics on climate equity the Equity Explorer allows users to select from a range of indicators of current, historical and projected emissions, development capacity, vulnerability, and the potential benefits of actions and compare countries in an integrated, holistic way through a radar chart visualization of different indicators for several countries or by viewing the rank of each country regarding a single indicator through a column chart function.
