Creative Commons Attribution

 

Except as noted below, all material on this site carries a Creative Commons license which permits re-use of WRI content when proper attribution is provided. This means you are free to copy, display and distribute WRI's work, or include our content in derivative works, under the following conditions:

  • Attribution. You must clearly attribute the work as indicated on the page in question, provide a link back to the work on www.wri.org, and clearly indicate if any modifications were made. For publications, working papers and other research, we strongly recommend that you provide links to the landing page(s) on www.wri.org, rather than distributing the PDF documents. Doing so ensures that people access the latest available information, in the event that the publication is revised or more research is published.

Some content on this site may carry additional copyright restrictions. WRI has made every effort to clearly label such content. Materials on other WRI-sponsored websites (e.g., URLs that do not begin with /) are typically subject to separate copyright and use policies; check the particular website for details.

Publications. Many publications, particularly those in which other organizations share authorship, carry a more restrictive copyright owing to the policies of the other organizations. These publications are marked "All Rights Reserved." Please check the title pages of publications for specific copyright terms.

Photographs. Most of the photographs featured on this site and in publications have either been licensed under non-transferable terms, or have been acquired from photo sharing sites such as Flickr that have their own policies for public use. Unless indicated otherwise, the Creative Commons license described above does not apply to photographs and images used on this site.

Charts, Graphs & Maps. Charts, graphs and maps frequently employ data from third parties. WRI cannot grant permissions to the original data used in these charts, although, such permissions may be granted by the owners of the data. In these cases, please contact the third party organizations directly to ask about permissions. The charts, graphs, and maps themselves carry the Creative Commons Attribution license.

Legacy content. Many older publications may carry the more restrictive Creative Commons Non-Commercial No-Derivatives License. Please contact us to request additional permissions to these documents.
