Willy Carlsen
Research Analyst, Industrial Innovation and Carbon Dioxide Removal
Willy Carlsen is a Research Analyst within the WRI Climate Program’s Industrial Innovation and Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) team. He works to research and analyze policies to decarbonize heavy industries – such as cement and steel – and responsibly deploy carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon dioxide removal.
Willy joined WRI as an intern with the Industrial Innovation and CDR team. Prior to joining WRI, Willy worked in the international development field as a research assistant for the Johns Hopkins Department of Energy, Resources, and the Environment, as an intern for the Caribbean Policy Research Institute, and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia.
He holds a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in International Development, Energy, and the Environment where he studied for one year in Bologna, Italy. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California in International Relations with a minor in Spanish.
