Willy Carlsen is an Intern within the WRI Climate Program’s Industrial Innovation team. He works to analyze and support research into the decarbonization of the cement and steel sectors as well as industrial decarbonization, more generally.

Prior to joining WRI, Willy worked in the international development field as a research assistant for the Johns Hopkins Department of Energy, Resources, and the Environment, as an intern for the Caribbean Policy Research Institute, and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia.

He holds a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in International Development, Energy, and the Environment where he studied for one year in Bologna, Italy. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California in International Relations with a minor in Spanish.
