WRI Brasil
WRI Brasil researches, analyzes and implements sustainable and inclusive solutions across three key areas: cities, climate, and forests.
With immense biodiversity, a wealth of natural resources, and a diverse and relevant economy, Brazil is a crucial player towards a nature-positive future.
Even though Brazil's economy had a relevant growth in the last decades, the country is recently facing a convergence of multiple crises intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic that disproportionately impacted poor and marginalized communities, as well as compounded existing environmental problems. The country faces challenges of financial constraints, stark inequality, and high dependence on commodity exports.
Brazilian leaders in government, the private sector, academia, and civil society are seeking ways to overcome the country’s development challenges in rural and urban areas. WRI Brasil was created to help the country’s decision-makers build sustainable and inclusive low-carbon public policies.
Working in partnership with stakeholders on the ground, WRI Brasil combines technical excellence with political coordination to offer an informed, independent perspective showing how environmentally sound policies can reduce inequalities and restore economic growth.
