Rafael is a transport specialist for the Cities program at WRI Colombia and is mainly dedicated to public transport electrification projects for cities in Mexico and Colombia. Rafael also performs transport system analysis and data analysis for public and private transport modes and smart cities.

Rafael has more than five years of experience in global transportation consulting projects. Rafael worked for four years at Steer Group as a consultant in mobility analysis projects at the city level through mobility surveys, public transport analysis and solutions for road safety problems. Later, Rafael worked as a research assistant at the Technical University of Munich. He participated in projects related to developing web applications and data viewers for cities in Europe and Asia.

Rafael studied civil engineering at the National University of Colombia and has a Master's in Transportation Systems from the Technical University of Munich – Germany. His master's thesis was related to applying pedestrian accessibility instruments in Bogotá, Colombia. Rafael has published articles on pedestrian accessibility and road safety.
