Maurice Owiti
NCE Economist, WRI Africa
Maurice is an Economist for the New Climate Economy Program at WRI Africa Office in Nairobi, Kenya. In this role Maurice works to advance and implement ongoing efforts on the New Climate Economy in Kenya, Nigeria, and potentially Ethiopia and provides a cross-cutting support on research efforts within the WRI Africa portfolio.
Prior to joining WRI, Maurice worked as a Lecturer in the department of Applied Economics at Kenyatta University, Kenya where he taught research methods, econometrics and applied economics to both undergraduate and post graduate students; coordinated campus quality management systems; and was a member of the departmental programmes review committee. He has also worked with Safaricom PLC, a leading telecommunication company in East Africa, as a Contact Support Analyst on international money transfer services.
He is a certified Monitoring and Evaluation Professional and Customer Experience Knowledge Expert. Maurice holds a master's degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi and a bachelor of arts degree in Economics from Moi University, Kenya. He is also a member of the Econometric Society of Kenya.
Maurice lives with his family in Nairobi, Kenya.
