Join WRI’s President & CEO Ani Dasgupta on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 9:00-10:15am EST / 15:00-16:15 CET for the 20th anniversary edition of Stories to Watch — insights into what will be the big moments, trends, and people that will shape 2023 and the years to come.
2022 was a year of disruption. The ongoing effects of COVID, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, inflation, climate impacts and more led to major upheaval in people’s lives. Yet there were also major developments in policy and actions by governments, businesses and institutions that could help turn the tide. This past year, world leaders prioritized action on nature and climate and multilateral meetings led to new breakthroughs. These silver linings bring hope that out of the many crises, a new and better approach could emerge.

Join Ani as he shares insights and ideas about the most pressing questions for the year ahead:

  • Will the Ukraine crisis accelerate a global, long-term shift to a low-carbon energy future?
  • Will new leadership in the Amazon spur stronger protection and management of the world’s three primary tropical forests?
  • Will financial reforms spur investment to support developing country transitions?
  • Will the U.S. jumpstart a just transition to meet its climate goals, while ensuring economic benefits are equitable?

This year, Stories to Watch will be an entirely virtual event. It will be presented in English with simultaneous interpretation in French, Portuguese, and Spanish. After the presentation, there will be a live Q&A with Ani and other WRI experts.
