Alison Cinnamond is the Strategic Communications and Media Manager in the Core Communications department. She works to shape WRI's overall media strategy and support the Institute in developing and carrying out communications strategies, overseeing messaging, drafting materials and managing media relations strategy across WRI's global network.

Prior to WRI, Alison worked in global non-profits and in the private sector to drive impactful cross border media campaigns. Alison’s experience includes working as a Media Relations Manager for UNICEF; overseeing public relations for the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in South Africa; spearheading the launch campaign for the Bangladesh-based non-profit organization BRAC USA; and directing a public diplomacy campaign to enhance bilateral relations between China and the United States.

Through her work in South Africa, the United States, Switzerland, Vietnam, China, Japan, Bangladesh, and Qatar, she has led major media campaigns and dealt with policymakers at the highest levels. She is an accomplished writer and has been published in leading publications across the globe.

Alison lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband Don; her two children Bailey and Calla; and her dogs Mimi and Luna.
