ADVISORY: Press Call: How Water Risk Affects Global Shale Development
STOCKHOLM//WASHINGTON—Experts from the World Resources Institute (WRI), Apache Corporation, and Natural Resources Defense Council will host a press call to discuss key findings from a new report, Global Shale Gas Development: Water Availability & Business Risks, the first-ever public analysis of water availability across all potential commercial shale resources worldwide. The press call will take place on Tuesday, September 2 at 10:00 ET / 15:00 GMT.
The report ranks water stress across 20 countries with the largest shale plays and evaluates water availability for every shale play in the 11 countries pursing, or most likely to pursue, hydraulic fracturing.
Experts will discuss how water stress and arid conditions could impact global shale gas development and share background on water-energy issues in shale-rich countries, with specific examples. A question and answer session will follow.
The launch will take place during World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden.
