WASHINGTON D.C. (June 12, 2023) Join World Resources Institute’s Global Forest Watch team on June 21, 2023 for a preview of their analysis on the state of the world’s forests and how much tree cover was lost in 2022. WRI’s embargoed press call will be at 8:00AM EDT / 14:00 CEST / 7:00PM WIB and feature many of WRI’s forest experts.

The speakers will cover the latest on the world’s tropical forests data and analyze whether the world is on track to meet commitments to end deforestation. Experts will also discuss how the latest tree cover loss affects people, biodiversity and climate around the world, and make the scientific and economic case for protecting forests.

Both the WRI analysis and the satellite-based data from the University of Maryland are strictly embargoed for June 27 at 2:01 AM EDT / 8:01 CEST / 1:01 PM WIB. By registering for this press call, you agree to respect the embargo date and time.

The University of Maryland’s tree cover loss data will launch on the Global Forest Watch platform, and in-depth analysis and expert insights on the state of the world’s forests will be released on the Global Forest Review on June 27.
