Kaitlyn Thayer is the Communications Manager for Global Nature Watch (formerly Global Forest Watch), where she leads communications and media engagement for the initiative. Her work includes strategic communications planning for major platform updates and data releases, media relations and messaging, event planning, and content development for Global Nature Watch's social media, newsletters and blog. 

Previously, Kaitlyn served as an editor for WRI Insights and coordinated executive-level communications projects. Before joining WRI, she studied the emergence of the local food movement in Central New York at Hamilton College, and blogged for the Adirondack Council, a nonprofit conservation organization in the Adirondack Park. She has also worked at several small, organic farms across New York State. 

Kaitlyn studied Environmental Studies at Hamilton College, and she enjoys walks in the sunshine, embroidery, swimming in Upstate New York lakes and hosting events for family and friends. She currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts with her husband and cat Jacoby.
