National and international experts discuss sustainable transport and urban development in India

BANGALORE— EMBARQ India in collaboration with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT), Government of Karnataka, will host the second annual CONNECTKaro conference March 10-11 in Bangalore. Last year, more than 250 participants attended CONNECTKaro and 2,000 participants joined the sessions online.

With over 15 enriching sessions, CONNECTKaro will focus on ways to make Indian cities better places to live by improving transport and accessibility. CONNECTKaro will bring together more than 200 government officials, policy makers, practitioners and experts for a robust dialogue on sustainable transport and development.

Speakers include Mr. Guillermo Peñalosa, Executive Director, 8-80 cities; Dr. Darío Hidalgo, Director of Research and Practice, EMBARQ; Dr. Bimal Patel, President, CEPT University; Dr. Manas Fuloria, Co-founder & Executive Vice President, Nagarro Software; and Mr. Edgar Ribeiro, EFN Rebeiro and former Chief Town Planner (TCPO). Organizers and co-hosts Mr. Madhav Pai, Director, EMBARQ India and Ms. Manjula V (IAS), Commissioner, Directorate of Urban Land Transport will also address the gathering.

Sessions will cover a range of crucial issues facing Indian cities today, such as non-motorized transport, transit-oriented development, role of private developers in sustainable development, road safety, and gender security in public spaces.

CONNECTKaro is part of a global series of events hosted by the EMBARQ Network, the World Resources Institute's program for sustainable transport and urban development.
