Companies are increasingly committing to robust water goals that aim to reduce their negative impacts on water resources. The last decade has seen progressive companies look beyond their facility walls to address shared water challenges, such as limited supplies, in the catchments where they operate, source materials from or sell products. These companies are investing in projects designed to address such challenges while also increasing resilience.

Published in 2019, Volumetric Water Benefit Accounting guidance has become the unofficial industry standard for companies to quantify the volume of water resulting from their stewardship activities. Since then, corporate water stewardship has evolved, and priority water challenges have escalated and expanded, warranting new and updated guidance for the private sector to continue investing in meaningful activities on the ground.

To respond to this changing landscape, WRI worked with LimnoTech, Bluerisk and Bonneville Environmental Foundation to produce a new generation of Volumetric Water Benefit Accounting — VWBA 2.0. This three-part webinar series will introduce the new guidance and will focus on how companies and project implementers should quantify, plan, and implement projects, track progress, and communicate the water benefits of the water stewardship activities.
