Webinar: Enhancing NDCs in 2020: Opportunities in the Power Sector
Taking stock of progress in the power sector since the first NDCs were developed reveals that while moving toward zero-carbon energy is fundamental, increasing ambition in the power sector requires more than merely increasing renewable energy targets.
Beyond increasing renewable energy targets, reflecting power sector mitigation potential in the NDCs now depends on the implementation of four foundational strategies: enhancing grid flexibility, addressing existing coal assets, institutional changes, and tapping synergies between the power and end-use sectors. These foundational elements are common requirements for all power systems and can be tailored for each country based on its circumstances and capabilities.
