Friday, September 20 is the first day of a week-long youth-led global climate strike that will take place in thousands of locations around the world. Students will walk out of school to voice their demands for urgent action.

Join the conversation: #climatestrike, #DCClimateStrike

We at WRI are proud to respond to the organizers’ appeal for adult support. We state in our Strategic Plan that addressing climate change and other urgent global challenges “will require disruptive political, social and corporate partnerships —movements rather than mere policy shifts.” The Climate Strike is a part of such a movement.

In support of this movement, WRI’s Global Office in Washington DC will host a Climate Strike Teach-In for youth participating in the strike. The Teach-In will offer briefings on climate science, the Paris Agreement, and a hands-on demonstration of Resource Watch, which provides trusted and timely data for a sustainable future. It will conclude with a tour of our premises highlighting our in-house sustainability practices, including waste reduction, energy conservation, and a plant-based catering policy.

The event begins at 9:00 and will end at 10:30 so that participants can take Metro to join the Climate Strike March from the White House to the U.S. Capitol.
