WRI Alumni Network conversation with distinguished WRI alum and climate action advocate Rafe Pomerance. Rafe recently featured prominently in Losing Earth: The Decade We Almost Stopped Climate Change, Nathaniel Rich’s remarkable 70-page New York Times Magazine story. Losing Earth is based on more than 18 months of original reporting, well over a hundred interviews, and thousands of archival documents, many previously unknown—and Rafe is at the center of the story. (Apple has since bought the rights to make a TV series from the forthcoming book.)

Doors open at 5:00. The program will begin at 5:30 with a brief update and introduction to Delivering at Scale, WRI’s 2018-2022 Strategic Plan from somebody known to many of you: Online Engagement Architect and Strategist Laura Lee Dooley. Next, Christina DeConcini, Director of Government Affairs, will interview Rafe about his efforts, including arranging the famous 1988 hearing where James Hanson told the U.S. Congress that global warming “is already happening now.”  We will leave plenty of time for questions, discussion, and recollections.
