To evaluate change in pressure on coral reefs since 1998 (the year the first Reefs at Risk was published), Reefs at Risk Revisited undertook a separate comparative analysis using the 1998 modeling methodology and new coral reef data. The analysis found that the percentage of the world’s reefs rated as threatened by integrated local threats (medium threat or higher) increased by more than 30 percent between 1998 and 2007 (from 54 percent to 70 percent.)
