The stories throughout this 2025 Annual Report illustrate WRI’s approach in action — connecting global ambition with locally led change, and helping solutions that work in one place scale to many. All this work is building toward a shared vision for our planet: a new economy — one that is low carbon, good for nature and delivers opportunity and wellbeing for all people. It focuses on driving major transitions in food, energy and cities, pairing on-the-ground progress in key countries with work that reshapes the finance, governance and policy systems that make change possible at scale.

To advance this vision, WRI launched the Campaign for People, Nature and Climate — a five-year, $1.5 billion fundraising initiative to fund the strategic plan and accelerate impact. The campaign is designed to help WRI make bigger, multi-year bets — not just fund individual projects — so we can push toward system-wide tipping points and deliver durable results.

A defining focus of the campaign is raising $150 million in enterprise funding — flexible capital that strengthens the whole organization. It ensures WRI has the agility, capabilities and resilience to lead in a fast-changing world shaped by climate shocks, economic volatility and shifting political realities. Unlike restricted, project-specific support, enterprise funding lets us invest where needs and opportunities are emerging, build and retain the right teams, and move quickly when partners and decision-makers ask WRI to step in with evidence, tools and convening power.

In short, enterprise funding is the difference between the organization we are and the organization we can be — able to innovate faster, respond sooner, scale what works and sustain momentum through uncertainty. That flexibility is exactly what your enterprise support makes possible.

Progress to date gives us real confidence: we have reached nearly 60% of our overall campaign goal — including nearly two-thirds of the way to our enterprise funding goal — thanks to leadership from WRI’s Board and other longtime supporters.

Now, the campaign is moving from a successful quiet phase into a broader public phase. WRI is expanding our circle of support, connecting with new funders and partners and building a strong pipeline of partners who want to help accelerate durable change.

WRI’s Innovation Fund provides flexible, early-stage support that gives teams the freedom to test new ideas. In 2025, WRI selected five teams to receive small seed grants to pilot promising approaches. One project tackled a barrier holding back nature-based solutions for water security: the lack of credible, project-level data showing what works. The pilot developed a new way to measure outcomes — using satellite monitoring, AI and local data — across Latin American watersheds where communities face “too little, too much and too dirty” water.
