Sonja is the EU Engagement Coordinator at the World Resources Institute's Europe office in The Hague. In this role, she is responsible for identifying and coordinating engagement opportunities for different WRI teams with EU policymakers and other stakeholders. She (co)organises meetings, convenings and events to strengthen institutional partnerships and raise WRI's visibility in the EU. She also contributes EU policy analysis to research projects and WRI publications on various topics, including deforestation-free supply chains and trade, climate adaptation and mitigation, critical raw materials and energy.

Previously, she worked in Berlin, first creating professional development seminars for the public sector and afterwards in regulatory affairs for an industry association.

She holds an MSc in Environmental Sciences, specialising in Environmental Policy and Economics from Wageningen University and a Bachelor’s degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Goldsmiths University in London.
