Shannon Hilsey Choy
Project Manager, Buildings Initiative, WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities
Shannon is Project Manager for the Buildings Initiative at the WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities.
She provides project and grant management, engagement and communications leadership for the Initiative’s work on zero-carbon buildings and urban energy solutions. For the past five years, one of Shannon’s roles has been to support the growth of a landmark global partnership that fosters city leadership on building sector decarbonization, partnering with more than 50 subnational governments worldwide and dozens of leading organizations. Recently, she worked with Cities and Energy program leadership to scope and launch a new institutional line of work on urban-led energy system decarbonization.
Prior to joining WRI in 2015, Shannon worked as a Program Coordinator for American University, and prior to that, as a legal writer. She holds a Master of International Affairs from the American University School of International Service as well as a B.A. in Government from Cornell University. Currently, she is participating in the Princeton Alumnicorps’ Emerging Leaders Program.
Shannon grew up in rural Pennsylvania. In 2020, she relocated from Washington DC to the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and a spoiled cat and dog. In her spare time, she enjoys running and hiking, reading great journalism, and indulging in fancy coffee and distinctly unfancy snacks.
