Maria del Mar Cantero Guerrero is an Economics Specialist in WRI Colombia's Climate, Economics, and Finance program. Her work focuses on applying economic models to support a just energy transition.

She has worked as a statistician and analyst at the International Trade Centre, a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland; as a research support officer at Eurofound, an agency of the European Union in Dublin, Ireland; and as head of economic studies at the Colombian Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Tourism.

Maria del Mar holds a degree in economics from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and holds a master's degree in sustainable development and environmental economics from the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne and in theoretical and empirical economics from the Paris School of Economics.
