José Iván Zuñiga-Pérez
Forests Manager, WRI Mexico
José Iván is the Forests Manager at WRI Mexico. He is responsible for supporting the Directorate of the WRI Forests program in Mexico and its three current initiatives: Global Forest Watch, Forest Legality Initiative and Restoration Initiative.
José Iván has worked as a researcher and university professor, and since 1995 he collaborates with civil society organizations on issues of biodiversity conservation, sustainable forest management, environment and social development. As an independent consultant he has worked for the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (CONABIO). He collaborated with the Mexican Civil Council for Sustainable Forestry as Public Policy Coordinator and with Environmental Policy and Legislation (POLEA) as Public Policy and Communication Coordinator.
José Iván is a Master in Environmental Policy and Management from the Carlos III University of Madrid, Spain. He also completed specialization studies in Globalization, International Cooperation and Development at the University of the Basque Country.
