Itzá Castañeda
Social Equity Director, WRI México
Itzá Castañeda is the Social Equity Director at the World Resource Institute Mexico.
Formerly, she was Senior Gender Advisor for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP- Mexico, 2004-2011) and Director of Gender Equality and Environment in Mexico’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (2001 -2003). She was also a consultant on gender and sustainable development for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and other development and environmental agencies.
Itzá is a biologist with a master’s degree in Environment and Integrated Development. She also holds certificates in Environmental Problems from a Gender Perspective and in Social Impact.
She has more than 25 publications and is member of the Gender and Environment Network (Mexico), Women in Conservation Network (LAC) and the IPCC Gender Task Force on Gender.
