Gilbert Muvunankiko
Communications Manager, Restoration, WRI Africa
Gilbert Muvunankiko is a Communications Manager with WRI's Restoration Initiative, based in Kigali, Rwanda. He manages communications and engagement execution processes for Africa-related restoration projects, such as Restore Local, the Land Accelerator, Policy Accelerator, Monitoring Accelerator, and TerraFund for AFR100. In addition, Gilbert produces content from Africa-based restoration projects for WRI and AFR100 websites, ensures technical assistance needs are met and oversees smooth governance for AFR100 communications in collaboration with the AUDA-NEPAD communications lead.
Gilbert joined WRI in November 2021 and previously worked as the Leader of Information Systems and Communications Department at the Albertine Rift Conservation Society (ARCOS Network), a regional conservation and development NGO in East Africa. There, he was responsible for providing leadership and coordination of ARCOS’ communications and outreach activities at the national, regional, and continental levels. He also coordinated its Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative.
