Gabriel Penteado is an Engagement Specialist for GFW Pro in Latin America, where he promotes the platform’s use for deforestation monitoring and sustainable sourcing across the continent. Gabriel collaborates with financial institutions, cooperatives and agribusinesses, helping them integrate geospatial data into investment decisions.

Previously, Gabriel was part of the Governors’ Climate and Forests Task Force (GCFtf) Secretariat, the largest and longest-standing subnational network of it's kind. He supported the implementation and sharing of good practices of jurisdictional approaches to reduce deforestation and foster low-emission development at the subnational level. Gabriel also led impact assessments and communications for major international meetings, including COP28 where he facilitated discussions on the intersection of technology and development.

Gabriel’s experience includes working with The World Bank in Indonesia, where he coordinated a South-South Knowledge Exchange to share best practices in halting deforestation and fostering low-GHG development between Brazil, Indonesia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo - three countries that harbor over 50% of the world's tropical forests. He is an avid reader and biker who holds a Masters of Development Practice from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. in Public Administration from FGV in São Paulo.
