Francisco Boshell is an international energy transition expert with more than 20 years of experience advancing sustainable energy, industrial decarbonization, and clean transport solutions worldwide. His expertise spans energy policy, technology innovation, renewable energy deployment, green hydrogen, and climate change mitigation.
Francisco is the Global Lead for Decarbonized Energy Consumption at the WRI Polsky Energy Center, joining in spring 2026 He has held senior roles at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), UN Climate Change (UNFCCC), and consultancy at the World Bank and KEMA Consulting (now part of DNV), leading initiatives for governments and private sector on renewable energy technologies, greenhouse gas methodologies, and energy transition strategies.
Francisco has co-authored influential reports shaping global discussions on decarbonization and sustainable energy systems. He holds an MSc in Sustainable Energy Technology from Eindhoven University of Technology and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de los Andes.
