Ettore Arpini
Institutional Planning, Reporting, and Learning Lead Manager

Ettore is the Institutional Planning, Reporting, and Learning Lead Manager at WRI. As part of the Managing for Results (MfR) team, he leads the implementation of the global Planning & Learning Cycle and Pause & Reflect Moments initiatives, driving a cultural shift towards evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement. He also provides internal consulting and technical assistance on strategic planning, Theory of Change, and indicator-based management to teams across WRI's Country and Regional Offices. Ettore is based in The Hague, the Netherlands, but works with colleagues across the WRI network to develop and monitor impactful strategies and implement adaptive management and learning processes.
Before his current role, Ettore was a member of the WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities' Global Strategy and Management team, where he introduced Business Intelligence systems to support decision-making and co-founded the program's Project Management Office (PMO). Additionally, he has a strong background in consulting and in the fintech space in Brazil and in Europe. His career also spans leadership experience in consulting and the fintech sector, both in Brazil and Europe, where he led high-impact initiatives and innovation.
Ettore holds a cum laude MSc. degree in Engineering and Policy Analysis with a specialization in Economics and Finance from the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, where he was awarded a full scholarship. He also earned a cum laude bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Management Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, with a focus on decision support systems, risk management, and enterprise performance management.
Outside of his professional work, Ettore is an amateur linguist, an avid traveler, and a dog lover. He is fluent in six languages and is learning two more.
