Ettore Arpini
Director for Strategy and Impact, WRI Brasil

Ettore Arpini is the Director of Strategy and Impact at WRI Brasil, leading the development and implementation of the Country Transition Strategy to drive transformative, measurable outcomes for People, Nature, and Climate. He ensures strategic alignment across WRI Brasil’s programs, operations, and partnerships—strengthening its role as a key player in Brazil’s sustainable development.
Ettore also oversees high-level institutional relationships, including engagement with WRI Brasil’s Board of Directors, global leadership, and external partners, and plays a pivotal role in positioning WRI Brasil on the global stage, including at major international forums such as COP.
Previously, Ettore worked from WRI Europe in the global Managing for Results team, where he led WRI's institutional planning, reporting and learning initiatives. He co-founded the Global Planning & Learning Cycle, Pause & Reflect Moments, and the Strategy Scorecard, driving a culture of evidence-based decision-making and continuous learning across WRI. With over eight years at WRI, he has worked from ten international offices, shaping global strategy, adaptive management, and impact measurement.
Ettore holds a cum laude MSc. in Engineering and Policy Analysis from Delft University of Technology, specializing in Economics and Finance, where he was awarded a full scholarship. He also earned a cum laude bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Management Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, focusing on decision support systems, risk management, and enterprise performance management.
Beyond his professional work, Ettore is an amateur linguist, avid traveler, and dog lover. He is fluent in seven languages and is currently learning yet another one.
