Brian Masila Mwau
Grants & Contracts Manager, WRI Africa
Brian Masila Mwau is a Grants and Contracts Manager in the Operations department, supporting both the Grants & Contracts and Cost & Pricing functions across Africa and other multiple countries globally. His responsibilities include managing prime funding awards, subaward administration, due diligence, procurement processes, and ensuring compliance, while also contributing to cost and pricing through proposal budget development, donor financial reporting, and strengthening internal controls. He previously supported WRI’s STAND Project funded by the U.S. Government prior to its termination.
Prior to joining WRI, Brian worked as a Grants Officer for Thomson Reuters Foundation, where he supported a portfolio of grants through partner management, conducting due diligence, financial capacity building, grants audits and grants finance in the Africa region and other global programs. Previously he also worked for Plan International, World Vision Kenya, RTI international and Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI).
Brian holds Master’s degree in project planning and management from University of Nairobi, Bachelor of Science in Financial Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, CPA, Financial Modelling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA) and Business Intelligence & Data Analyst (BIDA) from Corporate Finance Institute Canada.
Brian lives in Kenya with his wife, Faith, and son, Mitch. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and listening to music.
