Andrea V. Mendez
Development Associate
Andrea is a Development Associate at the World Resources Institute (WRI), where she supports coordination, communication, and collaboration across the Development Department. In this role, Andrea manages executive priorities, leads department-wide communications, supports fundraising workflows and helps ensure alignment across global teams and strategic initiatives. She also provides high-level scheduling, travel, and meeting preparation support for internal and external engagements of the Executive Vice President of Governance and Development.
Previously, Andrea served as a Project Management Associate in WRI’s Climate, Economics and Finance (CEF) Program, where she managed grants in the National Climate Action portfolio and led country projects in Colombia, Brazil, and Mexico. Prior to joining WRI, she worked as a Political Attaché at the Embassy of Panama in Washington, D.C., where she led congressional outreach efforts, supported ministerial delegations, and managed diplomatic and cultural events. She began her career as a Foreign Relations Analyst at Panama’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Andrea holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) from Georgetown University and a first-class bachelor’s degree in International Politics from Aberystwyth University.
