Alanna Schenk
Strategy and Development Specialist, Restoration

Alanna Schenk is a Strategy and Development Specialist with the Restoration team at WRI. She works on the development of strategies to scale WRI’s restoration programs and increase their global impact. She also supports efforts to mobilize philanthropic and investment capital, working across a portfolio that includes AFR100 and Restore Local in Africa, Initiative 20x20 in Latin America, Fundo da Flora in Brazil, the Harit Bharat Fund in India, and broader initiatives in Indonesia and other regions.
Before joining WRI, Alanna worked with Accenture Development Partnerships, the nonprofit arm of Accenture, where she served as a climate and environment consultant. In that role, she developed climate strategies, funding models for nature-based solutions, and organizational strategies for UN agencies and NGOs. She has also held research roles focused on Arctic policy with the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the U.S. Department of Defense, and UNESCO.
Alanna holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations from the University of Southern California and received a Fulbright Award to pursue a master’s in Arctic Policy in Denmark.
Now based in Washington, D.C., after over five years in Copenhagen, she enjoys spending time outdoors, practicing film photography, and reading anything and everything. She’s always on the lookout for new D.C. adventures.
