Abiyot is Research Associate for the WRI Africa office in Ethiopia. In close cooperation with EFCCC of the FDRE, he will coordinate and manage research and stakeholders engagement efforts, co-author and review reports and communications, and manage partner relationships with domestic and international entities supporting the project. He has over 8 years of experience in research development planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the national development plans.

He previously worked for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperations in areas of development planning and research as well as monitoring and evaluation of the plan implementations. After this, he also worked for the National Planning and Development Commission as Research and Economic Modeller as well as Coordinator for the Perspective Plan Preparation and Research Directorate.

Abiyot has Joint European Masters degree in System Dynamics from the New University of Lisbon, the University of Bergen as well as Masters in Business Administration from Radboud University. He also has Master's degree in Applied Economic Modelling and Forecasting from Addis Ababa University and bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics from Haramaya University.
