WASHINGTON (August 23, 2018) - Today a bipartisan coalition of 17 U.S. governors pledged to reduce GHG emissions by protecting and enhance carbon sequestration across all natural and working lands. These leaders also challenged businesses, subnational governments and countries to follow their lead by announcing new commitments during the Global Climate Action Summit and thereafter.

Following is a statement from Dan Lashof, Director of WRI United States:

“Today 17 governors pledged to pursue smart land management practices that will reduce carbon pollution while boosting rural economies and improving air and water quality. This is the kind of bold leadership that the nation needs if we are going to successfully address the climate challenge, and stands in stark contrast to the unrelenting rollbacks emanating from the Trump administration.”
