EMBARQ India received special recognition in the third edition of the Volvo Sustainable Mobility Awards, announced at last week’s Volvo Nobel Memorial Seminar in Bangalore, India. EMBARQ India’s submission, “Towards a Walkable and Sustainable Bengaluru: A Safe Access Project for Indiranagar Metro,” aims to improve safety and accessibility for bikers and pedestrians around Bangalore’s metro stations. EMBARQ India will provide technical assistance to the Directorate of Urban Land Transport in the state of Karnakata as it moves forward with Safe Access Projects throughout the state.

“EMBARQ India is honored to receive this recognition for its urban development and accessibility work in Bangalore, and we thank Volvo for its commitment to advancing sustainable mobility in India,” said Madhav Pai, Director of EMBARQ India, who also served as one of five judges for this year’s award.

“We continue to work in Bangalore and other cities across India with the goal of implementing Safe Access Projects that will improve quality of life,” added Sanjay Sridhar, EMBARQ India’s Strategy Head for Urban Development and Accessibility in Bangalore.

The Volvo Sustainable Mobility Award was first awarded in 2011 in order to recognize outstanding efforts in the field of sustainable mobility.
