MOU Signing; Keynote address by NDRC Director General Su Wei

The World Resources Institute welcomes a delegation of high-level Chinese government officials and representatives from Caterpillar Inc. for an event on low carbon development on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. The Chinese officials are conducting a study tour to the U.S. focusing on environmentally sustainable urban development.

The delegation is led by Director General Su Wei from China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), who will deliver the keynote speech. Harriet (Hattie) Babbitt, Vice Chair of WRI’s Board of Directors; Clay Thompson, Director of Global Government Affairs for Caterpillar, Inc.; and Clayton Lane, Global Lead for WRI’s Sustainable Cities Initiative, will each deliver remarks.

The event will feature the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) among WRI, NDRC, and Caterpillar Inc. for collaboration on sustainable urbanization. In December, the Caterpillar Foundation announced a five-year, $12.5 million grant to WRI to advance environmentally sustainable and livable cities in China, India, and Brazil.
