NEW YORK CITY— On Wednesday, September 20, a global alliance of leaders from government, business and civil society will launch P4G, a pioneering new initiative to catalyze solutions for inclusive, sustainable economic growth. P4G— Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030— will create a space for innovative partnerships with businesses, national and city leaders, financiers, and community advocates to develop powerful solutions in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change.

The launch will include remarks by Prime Minister of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen; President of Chile Michelle Bachelet; representatives from the governments of Ethiopia, Kenya, Republic of Korea, Vietnam, Mexico, and other leaders in government, business and civil society.

The pace and scale of change needs to accelerate in order for the world to meet its commitments by 2030. Shifting to a sustainable economy will require more engagement from governments, businesses, investors, civil society, cities and academia. It will require new partnerships at all levels and by all actors. Partnerships that bring together public and private sector actors to scale innovation and create a race to the top. P4G will play an essential role in developing and enabling these partnerships to emerge and thrive.

Advisory and facilitation will be available for partnerships working under the P4G umbrella through the P4G Hub in Washington. Additionally, a fund of $4 million (US) per year will be made available for financial support to incubate and scale strategies of P4G partnerships. Moreover, P4G partnerships can expect support from a variety of funds collaborating with the P4G sustainable growth agenda. One such fund is the Danish initiated innovative SDG Investment Fund that will contribute to SDG-related partnerships and ensure around USD 5 billion in total investments by working through public-private cooperation.

At the launch, the initiative’s partners will commit to action through new partnerships, discuss the P4G strategy and way forward, exchange work plans and begin the journey towards new types of innovative partnerships that can accelerate sustainable development across sectors and national borders.
