Forest guardians around the world are on the front lines of protecting forests and combating climate change. These protectors of the environment, from local communities to advocacy organizations, rely on tools like Global Forest Watch (GFW) to monitor and raise awareness of illegal deforestation in real time. Deforestation alerts provided by GFW empower them to take swift action, shining a light on activities that would otherwise go unnoticed.

In this webinar, we’ll explore how deforestation alerts have become a vital tool for stopping illegal deforestation. You’ll hear from partners such as Rainforest Foundation US, ORAU and Forest Watcher Indonesia and to discuss their methodologies for using GFW data and the deforestation alerts in their work and share success stories of how they’ve helped halt illegal activities.

This webinar is the third in a series of virtual events celebrating Voices of Global Forest Watch. A decade ago, the launch of GFW ushered in a new era of accountability and transparency in monitoring and protecting the world's forests. To celebrate 10 years of impact, our Voices of Global Forest Watch series will highlight the successes of GFW users, partners, and community members through videos, stories, and events throughout the year.

This event will be hosted in English with simultaneous interpretation to Spanish and Bahasa Indonesia.
