Webinar: Country Action in the Race to Zero
In the lead-up to COP26, global momentum for net-zero climate action is growing rapidly. 22 countries and the European Union have now formally adopted net-zero target targets. More than 100 additional countries have joined the Climate Ambition Alliance to work toward net-zero by 2050 or sooner, and the leaders of China and Japan also recently committed to climate neutrality. They are joined by thousands of companies, cities, regions, and investors who are also uniting behind the Race to Zero campaign to set emissions reduction targets in line with the Paris Agreement.
On the sidelines of November's Race to Zero Dialogues, 2050 Pathways Platform and World Resources Institute hosted this virtual event to present a new resource to support countries in designing and communicating robust net-zero targets.
Speakers included:
- Archie Young, UK Lead Climate Negotiator in the COP26 unit
- Richard Baron, Executive Director, 2050 Pathways Platform
- Kelly Levin, Senior Associate, World Resources Institute
- Maesela Kekana, Chief Directorate - International Climate Change Relations and Negotiations, South Africa’s Department of Environment, Forestry, and Fisheries
