Thanks to the generosity of our donors, WRI continues to expand our impact across priority areas. Our current operational investments include those that strengthen internal systems, assuring we are able to recruit and maintain our high caliber of employees and provide an environment that is adaptable to the needs of our work.

Improvements to our project management culture

In the past year, WRI hired our first Project Management Lead to build out project management capacity globally. This staff member will work with our programs, centers, and offices to make sure they have the resources, training and infrastructure needed for their work, ensuring projects run smoothly from inception to completion.

Technology updates

Our Operations Team began a multi-year, comprehensive technology initiative with the objective of implementing integrated, data driven, fit-for-purpose, user-friendly systems across WRI.

Flexible work

WRI approved a new framework prioritizing the creation of working conditions that maximize our impact while emphasizing productivity in an equitable way. This framework offers options for in-office, remote and telework.

Innovative hiring strategies

WRI’s ability to deliver outcomes that drive positive systems change is only possible when we have the highest-caliber staff, and equip that staff with all the tools it needs. In the past year, WRI hired more than 500 people across the network despite disruptions to the labor market.
