Sustainable Development Goal 4
Although access to education continues to expand and technological innovations offer promising new pathways to learning, many individuals are left behind. More than half of the world’s children and adolescents cannot meet minimum standards in reading and mathematics. Some 750 million adults — two-thirds of them women — were illiterate in 2016.
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote life-long learning opportunities for all
WRI’s work does not touch directly on education. Instead, WRI’s research, analysis and tools offer knowledge that is used as teaching materials in universities and that support individualized life-long learning about sustainable development (SDG 4.7, SDG 12.8, SDG 13.3). Our initiatives are designed to shape sustainable values that influence lifestyles, investment strategies and consumer choices.
