Building America's Clean Future: Pathways to Decarbonize the Economy
Testimony of Dr. Karl Hausker, Senior Fellow, U.S. Climate Program, World Resources Institute
Synopsis
On July 24, WRI Senior Fellow Karl Hausker, Ph.D., testified in a hearing before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy & Commerce, Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change. The hearing, titled “Building America’s Clean Future: Pathways to Decarbonize the Economy,” examined the challenges and opportunities associated with deep decarbonization of the United States economy. Karl’s testimony focused on decarbonization strategies to attain a clean energy future, including energy efficiency, electrification, clean generation of electricity, and carbon capture and storage. The strategies offer pathways to limit the warming to 1.5°C, as outlined in the 2018 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, to limit the worst effects of climate change.
