Tom Owen Edmunds is a Senior Advisor to WRI.

Before joining WRI Tom worked for the UK Government for twenty years, his last post being Head of the UK Climate Change Unit (UKCCU) and DFID Indonesia in the British Embassy Jakarta.

Previously he was Head of DFID Lahore in Pakistan, Head of the Political Section in the British High Commission Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Head of Conflict Policy for DFID in London. Tom has a life-long passion, commitment and experience of working in conservation and sustainable development. Before joining DFID he was a photojournalist for fifteen years, principally with the BBC, working on environment and travel stories in the developing world.

Tom read Geography at Oxford University, where he specialized in economic development. He sat on the Council of the Royal Geographical Society from 2003-6.

Tom currently lives in Sydney with his Australian wife Libby and a Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo.
