Stephanie Borcea
Small Grants Fund Specialist, Global Forest Watch
Stephanie Borcea is the Small Grants Fund Specialist for the Global Forest Watch program at WRI. She oversees the Small Grants Fund to provide financial and technical support to civil society organizations and communities in using technology to combat deforestation.
Prior to joining WRI, Stephanie has worked for several mission-driven non-profits including Cultural Survival, Fair Trade USA, The Climate Reality Project, and IUCN. Her past work has focused on several issue areas at the intersection of conservation and human rights including: climate adaptation through Nature-based Solutions and Ecosystem-based Adaptation, indigenous rights and sovereignty, anthropological fieldwork and ethnography, grants management, human rights analyses, and sustainable development project management.
Stephanie holds a B.A. in Anthropology from CU Boulder and is currently pursuing her Master of Liberal Arts in Global Development Practice at Harvard Extension School.
Stephanie is based in Washington, DC. She enjoys walks with her golden retriever, Lumi, spending time in nature, and has recently picked up embroidery as a meditative stress relieving hobby.
