Stephanie Borcea
Grants & Fellowships Manager, Forests and Nature for People
Stephanie Borcea is the Grants and Fellowships Manager, as part of the Forests and Nature for People team at WRI. She oversees the Small Grants Fund and Tech Fellowship to provide financial and technical support to civil society organizations and communities in using technology to combat deforestation.
Prior to joining WRI, Stephanie has worked for several mission-driven non-profits including Cultural Survival, Fair Trade USA, The Climate Reality Project, and IUCN. Her past work has focused on several issue areas at the intersection of conservation and human rights including: climate adaptation through Nature-based Solutions and Ecosystem-based Adaptation, indigenous rights and sovereignty, anthropological fieldwork and ethnography, grants management, human rights analyses, and sustainable development project management.
Stephanie holds a B.A. in Anthropology from CU Boulder and a Master of Liberal Arts in Global Development Practice from Harvard Extension School.
Stephanie is based in Washington, DC with her partner and their two dogs. She enjoys spending time in nature, crafting, practicing yoga and meditation, and connecting with local community initiatives.
