Sarah Balagtas is a Learning and Development Manager in the Global Human Resources department. She works to create and deploy internal training initiatives and support the organization’s talent development and employee engagement efforts.

Prior to joining WRI, Sarah worked as a Special Education Teacher in Maryland for over 15 years. Within her role as an educator, she mentored Teacher Candidates from the University of Maryland, and led staff, student, and community wellness events as the Wellness Committee Chairperson.

Sarah holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Maryland, with a concentration in low incidence disabilities and autism. For a period of two years, she was chosen to participate in a Johns Hopkins University grant funded program that centered around creating inclusive co-taught classrooms. She continues to be a strong advocate for building inclusive learning environments.

Sarah lives in College Park, MD, and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and their dog, Hunter.
