Nikhil John
Head – Climate Finance
Nikhil John is the Head of Climate Finance, for the Sustainable Cities Program at World Resources Institute. He works with sub-national governments, at the state and city level to catalyze more climate finance, particularly for adaptation and resilience climate action for cities.
Nikhil comes with over two decades of experience across economic consulting, financial inclusion, startup incubation, and nonprofit strategy consulting. His career began in economic consulting at NERA in New York. Volunteering at Acumen propelled him to the impact space in India, starting with the financial inclusion startup, Dvara Trust. He then incubated and invested in social enterprises at Social Alpha before providing strategic advisory to non-profits at Sattva Consulting.
Nikhil holds a B.A. in Economics from Bard College in New York, where he attended on a full merit-based scholarship. His writing has appeared in Public Affairs and Indian newspapers.
Outside of work, he is an Arsenal fan and an avid runner. He has completed several half marathons and trail runs and is eager to take on more.
