Mulalo Mbedzi occupies position of Nature-based Solution Associate, African Cities Climate Resilience Program, WRI Africa (Johannesburg, South Africa)”.

Prior to joining the WRI team, Mr. Mbedzi worked at the then National Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF) now known as Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) as a Senior Hydrologist: Aquatic Scientist between 2006 and late 2008. He was part of the team conducting River Health Programme (RHP) in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, responsible for producing State of Rivers Report (SoR).

In 2008 November he joined Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo as a Bio-Aquatics Specialist till he resigns and join WRI (June 2024). He played a crucial role to accomplish various IDP KPI’s such as Invasive alien plants control, Aquatic alien plants control as well as wetlands maintenance of the City of Johannesburg at large.

Mulalo holds Bachelor of Environmental Sciences (Hons) degree obtained from the University of Venda for Science and Technology (UNIVEN) obtained in the year 2005.

Mulalo likes both crop and stock farming, including Aquaculture, which he does during his spare time.
