Mirza Firoz Beg

Firoz heads the Equity & Poverty work within World Resources Institute (WRI) in India. He is supporting and advising teams integrate gender and equity considerations within their work. Prior to joining WRI, he was with Oxfam India, leading their Social Inclusion theme and community empowerment work. He also helped teams look at their work from equity and inclusion lens. Firoz has demonstrated his leadership role and skills in shaping up programs and organization development.
A post-graduate in rural management from Xavier Institute of Social Services, Ranchi, Jharkhand, Firoz has over two and half decade of rich and varied experience in program development and management, providing strategic direction, monitoring & evaluation, evidence-based research, and capacity building in various thematic area. Some of his broad areas of work include Equity & Inclusion, Natural Resource management, Climate, Water, Resilient livelihoods, Gender, Health, Education and Governance.
Proficient in leading large and complex multi-sector programs he has experience of working with bilateral, institutional, and corporate donors. He has rich experience of working with wide range of stakeholders. His emphasis lays on strengthening the agency and inclusion of voice of marginalized sections of the society in the development discourse so that they are not left behind.
He is currently based out of New Delhi and lives with this wife Shabana Perween and two loving daughters Aasia and Adeeba.
