Michael Murigi
Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Impact Lead, WRI Africa
Michael Murigi is the Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Impact (MELI) Lead for the World Resources Institute (WRI) Africa Food, Land and Water Program. He leads the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems that support evidence-based decision-making and strengthen the impact of food systems initiatives across Africa.
Michael has over 10 years of experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, and program implementation across agricultural value chains, climate action, youth and women’s empowerment, financial inclusion, and MSME development. He has worked across Africa, South Asia, and Latin America on projects funded by organizations such as the World Bank, IDRC, FCDO, the Mastercard Foundation, the Gates Foundation, and the EU.
Before joining WRI, he worked at the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), where he supported monitoring and evaluation, research coordination, and capacity building. He holds Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in Economics and received the Queen's Young Leaders Award in 2018 for his work promoting nutrient-dense traditional crops among drought-affected communities in Kenya.
