Maanas Nukala is a Data Operations Engineer for Global Forest Watch. He works to streamline and manage data-related processes for the GFW platform, including overseeing all necessary steps to update or add new data to GFW’s suite of tools.

Prior to joining WRI, Maanas served several GIS and data-intensive roles at non-profits, museums, and academia. He has supported projects ranging from conservation governance to object detection by EO satellites. Maanas holds a B.S. in Biological Anthropology and a minor in GIS from the George Washington University. He was selected as REU fellow at the American Natural History Museum in 2018 and served on the GW Undergraduate Review during college.

Maanas resides in Washington, DC. In his free time, he enjoys birding around the DMV area, exploring all the parks the District has to offer, and planning his next road trip.
